CAMP HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Performing Arts

Enhancement Programs

 The Performing Arts Enhancement Programs are additional components to the mainstream Performing Arts curriculum offered to students at Camp Hill Primary School.

The Enhancement Programs offered to students include:

  • Circus
  • Dance Troupe
  • Choir
  • Rhythm Band

All students in years 3 to 6 are provided with the opportunity to audition for a position in the Enhancement Programs.  To successfully obtain a position in any of the programs, students must demonstrate their ability to perform the required skills at a pre-determined level.  Once established, the workshop Enhancement Programs are conducted during recess, lunchtimes and negotiated class session times.

Students in the enhancement programs will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills within the school community (Education week, school fete, Harmony Day), within the wider community (Easter Fair/parade, Senior’s Week concert, Kid’s Character Carnival) and special community groups (hospitals, schools, aged care facilities).  Students may also have the opportunity to participate in educationally based showcases and festivals.

The aims of the program include:

  • Extending the skills included in the school’s performing arts program curriculum specifically in the areas of circus, dance, choir and rhythm band;
  • Increasing community performances and participation;
  • Providing opportunities for students to develop self-esteem, resilience, confidence, persistence and co-operation;
  • Allowing students to express themselves creatively through the performing arts.
