Information Communication Technology (I.C.T) Camp Hill is well resourced in the area of I.C.T and offers students a range of opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge in the digital world. I.C.T focuses on providing students with the tools to transform their learning and to enrich their learning environment. All classrooms have computer access including wireless laptop computers for Grades Three to Six. This is supported by a computer lab with 25 computers and an LCD screen which is used for lesson demonstrations. In addition to this we have Interactive Whiteboards in classrooms, digital and video cameras, webcams and a number of educational programs which support learning across the curriculum. Camp Hill employs technical support staff who manage all aspects of the school’s technology infrastructure including the server, wireless service, devise upkeep and trouble shooting, internet access and security and program management. Students and staff have access to the server to save work which they can retrieve from any computer in the school. Wireless access is available for portable devices across the school. In 2009, Grade Six students participated in the Netbook Trial which was run across Victoria, partly funded by the Department of Education and Early Childhood. This exciting initiative provided each Grade Six student with a wireless-enabled netbook to use ‘anytime, anywhere’. This trial has been a wonderful success at Camp Hill and has enriched learning through the numerous opportunities made possible by these devices. Future plans for I.C.T at Camp Hill including increasing the number of wireless laptops in classrooms, purchasing additional Interactive Whiteboards for classrooms, updating digital video cameras, educating students on the importance of cyber safety and digital citizenship, providing opportunities for students to engage in activities such as animation, safe digital communication and working in an online environment.
