Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

At Camp Hill Primary school students are given the opportunity to learn Bahasa Indonesian.  The study of Indonesian begins in Preparatory Year and continues through to Year Six. 

The goal of the Camp Hill School Language Programme is to provide students with a range of communication and general knowledge skills through developing their understanding and awareness of another culture. The LOTE programme motivates students’ interest in and respect for other cultures.

These skills are transferable and support other areas of the curriculum at Camp Hill Primary School.  Learning how languages work leads to improved literacy skills, including English literacy.  LOTE helps students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
