Camp Hill Library. A wonderful resource for learning, the library has a wide selection of picture story, junior fiction and information books, as well as a class set of computers. As part of the specialist program every class participates in an hour library session each week. Classroom teachers bring their classes into the library to use the computers most weeks.
Library sessions focus on literature, authors, illustrators, reading for enjoyment, and reading to learn. Where possible, library sessions also support classroom and other specialist programs by incorporating each department’s integrated inquiry into library sessions. The program also includes community events such as ‘Book Week’ in August, when we have our annual book character dress up parade, visiting authors, illustrators and the Bendigo library.
The library is open before and after school, and the second half of lunchtime, for students to browse and borrow books or access computers. Students are encouraged to borrow regularly a wide selection of literature.
